THE WATER FILTRATION PROJECT IN LEBANESE PUBLIC SCHOOLS |
![]() |
Sadly, water reaching all Lebanese private and public properties is in an extremely bad and contaminated condition to an extent that it is undrinkable, and what makes this issue an urgent and critical matter is that due to their poor financial abilities, students in Public schools are obliged to drink this water since it's the only free source provided by the school, jeopardizing the health of all students.
For this reason and since every student has the right to drink clean water and live a healthy life with no infections and diseases, the ROTARY CLUBS OF LEBANON turned this matter into a MEGA CHALLENGE for the coming years with a target of "Securing Clean Drinking Water in ALL Public Schools in Lebanon".
It is a 3 year program, supported by the Lebanese Ministry of Education, where we have changed tanks, pipes and faucets completely and installed water filters along with Ultra Violet systems in more than 720 public schools in Lebanon, out of 1200 with a budget exceeding 3 million dollars!!!

"Clean water and sanitation is a human right. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives.
That is why Rotary International took "Water" to be one of its main causes.
Rotary doesn't Just build wells, install water filtration systems, pipes, faucets and walk away! Rotary members integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education projects, because when children learn about disease transmission and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. At some point they can even take those lessons home to their families, expanding our impact." Jamil Mouawad
