Career Tasters

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, XX October 2018:  Rotary Club of Adliya announced it will be launching a new youth project in October 2018 called Career Tasters. The four month programme is designed to introduce 20 high school students to a variety of professions across different industries through one day workplace immersions. So far, 21 companies in Bahrain from sectors including banking, retail, industry, hospitality, health care, insurance and semi-government have confirmed their support of Career Tasters by agreeing to host students as part of the programme. In addition, students will participate in group activities including visits to universities and BIBF, an entrepreneurship start-up day as well as personality assessments and expert coaching sessions with and without parental engagement.

The aim of  Career Tasters is to build the students’ awareness of the career options available to them in readiness for making key decisions regarding the direction of their studies and professional lives. It is hoped that witnessing different industries and sectors first hand will enable the students to make more informed decisions about their futures rather than being influenced by second hand information. Students will record their learning and experiences in an official journal which will be signed off by the hosting company of each industry visit. Upon successfully completing Career Tasters, students will present their learning to school peers to share the benefits of the experience to a wider audience.

Amal AlKooheji, Rotary Club of Adliya member and Career Tasters project manager noted ‘young people can often make decisions about their future studies and professions without truly understanding their strengths, weaknesses, interests or the career options available to them. Career Tasters hopes to provide high school students with the opportunity to explore these areas in a supportive environment promoting greater educational and professional awareness as well as  better understanding of where they, as individuals, fit in to the world of work’.

The idea is to introduce high school students into the professional world, by guiding them to their future job opportunities. They have just completed its first session on 11 November 2018 of the project For more info check the following links:
