“The tragedy in life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.” Benjamin Mays
My Partners in Service,
November is Rotary Foundation Month and we celebrate it by increasing the awareness and enriching our background on the history of the foundation, the purely humanitarian projects that the foundation has funded and how we can give back to ensure that the foundation is able to fund future projects.
This foundation had grown throughout the years to be bigger, better and bolder and giving more as it is growing. What started in 1917 as the inspiration of one man, Arch Klumph, paved the ground for the world’s first and biggest service organization. During the past 102 years, the Foundation spent more than 4.3 billion dollars on life-changing sustainable service projects that support and improve lives by Eradicating Polio, Promoting Peace, Secure Clean Drinking Water, Strengthen Local Economies, Fight Diseases and to Enhance Education. Through supporting Rotary Foundation programs and funding it, Rotarians proved to themselves and to the whole world the strength of Rotary. Right now, the truth is that Rotary is the best service organization in this sphere. Thus, Rotary and the Foundation needs your generous contribution, your creativity, and participation. When we give the Foundation, it automatically gives us back! The strong financial oversight, high charity rating, and a unique funding model mean that we make the very most of your contribution. Here, I would like to shed light on a few helpful and supportive activities that we can achieve on yearly basis:
- If Rotary is to be there to teach children to read, build wells, feed the hungry, care for the sick, shelter the poor; then Every Rotary Club is invited and encouraged to enter an Annual Fund goal with a contribution, or at least USD 60 average per capita.
- Every Rotarian is invited & encouraged to become PHF/PHS.
- Polio goal of this Rotary Year is to contribute with USD 100,000 so we can eradicate it. Every Rotary Club must specify this goal on Rotary Club Central and contribute as soon as you can with an average of USD 1,500 per club.
- Hold local training, seminar, awareness meetings about the Foundation.
- Identify scholars for the Peace Centers to finish a master’s degree, and to benefit from scholarship opportunities using Global Grants.
- All Rotary Clubs are recommended to apply for District Grant and the deadline for applying for a District Grant is November 15, 2018, the cause of this year is providing “Civic Education for Peacebuilding”.
- Apply for a Global Grant on yearly basis.
Let us all work in District 2452 and contribute to The Rotary Foundation and reduce the number of non-contributing clubs, for this no reason not to support the Foundation on yearly basis. Act and show your belonging in contributing and supporting! I appeal to all of you to work hand in hand to take Rotary to greater heights.
